Second Language
Why do we take a second language?
Graduation Requirement:
In BC, learning a second language in Grades 5–8 is mandatory
University Admissions:
Many universities recommend or require a Language 11 course for direct admission into some faculties. Taking a second language can strengthen your application and keep your options open.
Career Advantages:
Bilingual or multilingual individuals often have access to better job prospects, higher salaries, and more global opportunities, especially in fields like business, healthcare, law, diplomacy, and education.
Why start early?
Cognitive Benefits:
Learning another language improves memory, problem-solving skills, focus, and creativity. It also enhances your understanding of your first language.
Cultural Awareness:
Language learning opens the door to understanding different cultures, perspectives, and communities, helping you become a more informed and empathetic global citizen
