Just worksheets would not work

Many students see early success in math competitions through worksheets and repetition – but this approach has limits.

As they move into high school, progress often plateaus. Trained to memorize and working at a fast-paced, students often rely on pattern matching and quick fixes and rarely get the chance to slow down and think critically. They lack the patience or observation skills needed to solve real, challenging problems – which are often the differentiating questions that separates the top the winners from honorable mentions

At Ivy Lab, we change that. We train students to slow down, observe deeply, and think with intention – building the habits that lead to true mathematical growth and long-term success.

Engaged natural learning and growth

At Ivy Lab, our teaching approach naturally encourages deep thinking. A simple task like using a hole puncher is a full lesson that integrates observation, precision, communication, and reflection on tools and inventions. A true scientist lives and breathes this kind of thinking every day.

How could our students not develop the ability to observe, reflect, and build strong problem-solving habits through such thoughtful exploration? However, this kind of growth takes time and mental incubation. Start building these invaluable soft skills and habits early – do it with us.

Winning essays are lab reports?

Winning essays often resemble lab reports – they require clear logic, strong arguments, and precise communication.

At Ivy Lab, our English and science teachers collaborate to help students develop these essential skills, boosting their communication competency – a key curricular requirement across all BC subjects.

This approach not only strengthens writing but also enhances scientific reasoning and mathematical problem-solving, where clear explanation and logical thinking are crucial. Teachers at Ivy Lab work as a team – this is why we are strong.
